When to go

Kyambura is open all year, but chimp tracking is easier and more enjoyable during the dry seasons.

What to expect

Chimpanzee tracking is the main draw here, though sightings can be less predictable than in Kibale. The gorge is also home to black-and-white colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, baboons, and an array of birdlife. Walking through the gorge is a surreal experience—stepping from open plains into a dense, echoing jungle. The area is quieter than other parks, offering a peaceful, off-the-beaten-track vibe.
